My name is Pedro and I am the owner and Pastry Chef of Nata Portuguese Bakery, the first and only Portuguese Bakery in New Zealand.
I moved from Portugal to New Zealand in 2015 to work in the IT field, however 6 months into my life in NZ and talking to people in the community, I noticed there was a large number of people who were fans of what is known as Portugal’s most famous pastry, the “Pastel de Nata”.
My wife and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to bring a part of our homes to New Zealand, so I dropped my IT job and head back to Portugal to train as a professional Pastry Chef, specializing in Portuguese Custard Tarts.
In 2016 I opened Nata Portuguese Bakery, currently, our focus is distributing to coffee shops and restaurants as well as the bakery sections at Farro and Countdown supermarkets nationwide.
